YMMV / Tangled Adventures in Arendelle

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Was Elsa right to sentence Eugene to community service when she found out he used to be a thief? Several fans complained this broke rules of diplomacy and made the normally calm and logical Elsa when she's in "ruler mode" seem entitled and hypocritical about someone keeping a secret that could ruin them...much like she did. This did eventually get included into the story's discourse, and eventually explained itself that Elsa was hurt that she felt she couldn't trust Rapunzel and Eugene as strongly anymore, so she gave the sentencing. Eugene saw the reason behind it all, so he played along. On the other hand, since Eugene was an international criminal in this continuity, would you blame Elsa for being at least a little uneasy around Eugene when all she knows about him is secondhand for the most part?
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Rapunzel is the first of the 3 female leads to get married. She also happens to be the youngest of them thanks to some math done later in the fic.
    • Also, considering what happened in Tangled: The Series, Rapunzel getting her magic back no longer seems as far fetched.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Rapunzel has shown herself capable in managing Arendelle while it was suffering from the endless winter. Come Tangled: The Series, her own kingdom becomes cursed with a similar blizzard with her parents and kingdom in danger, and the experience left her traumatised.
  • Iron Woobie:
    • Queen Elsa carries many, many different scars from her childhood and from the big freeze. She's also plagued with guilt, doubt and fear. However, she still holds her head up high as a queen, doing everything she can to redeem herself to her guests, her kingdom and her sister.
    • Also, Eugene. He now carries guilt from realizing the full harm that being a thief left on the nations he stole from, broke his arm, and picked Arendelle as the honeymoon place so all the bad events that followed their coming there could be partially placed on him. However, he's also possibly the 2nd most forgiving member of the cast, and offers many a smile and help wherever he can despite his issues.
  • Moral Event Horizon: As if you didn't already know that the Duke of Wesselton was a weasel, on top of his crimes against Elsa, he also tried to murder Rapunzel by exposure to cold just because he thought she still had magic.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Oh make no mistakes, it's definitely still a kids fic. Meant to be a simple continuation of the Frozen and Tangled movies. However, it still holds onto all the...grownup things of both movies, from Child Kidnapping to childhood trauma, to even near death experiences.
  • The Woobie: Oh, let us count the ways that everyone has this.
    • Anna is quite adorable at her best, but she also gets pulled every which way not only by almost dying, but also by breaking up with Kristoff in a moment of anger.
    • Same for Rapunzel, whose fear and desire to be the best princess ever twists her in many different directions whether in dealing with Eugene being sentenced and injured, or dealing with her own insecurities in dealing with Elsa's ice powers.
