• Alternative Character Interpretation: Ruby. Despite the sex scene being titillating and somewhat explicit for the CW, Sam having sex with the demon Ruby is supposed to be a low point for the character according to the writers. This is especially obvious once it is revealed the Ruby was manipulating Sam into releasing Lucifer. Yet, even the actress admits that Ruby loved Sam in her own way, and in her eyes, she's doing the right thing. She's loyal to Lucifer, sees Sam as rightfully belonging on team Evil and thinks they will be handsomely rewarded for freeing him. So, from her perspective, her seduction of him is romantic.
• No Yay: Sam and Ruby's sex scene. For one thing, demon's true faces are Nightmare Fuel according to those who can see them. For another, Ruby is possessing a corpse, so one could argue that Sam is committing necrophilia.
