- Complete Monster: Galeem is given a more fleshed-out personality and he establishes himself as a monster. Galeem starts the story off by wiping out nearly all life in the universe. Galeem transforms all the fighters into spirits and uses them as his slaves to wipe out anyone who survived. Galeem has gotten Master Hand on her side by threatening his captured brother, Crazy Hand. When Master Hand simply talks to one of the fighters, Galeem threatens to banish Crazy Hand to the Dark Realm, where he would be trapped forever if Master Hand does not submit to full brainwashing. Master Hand agrees, but Galeem banishes Crazy Hand anyway and then brainwashes Master Hand. Galeem then goes on to painfully enslave Mewtwo. Galeem's omnicidal goals are motivated by personal hatred for the fighters, something which even one of his minions, Ultra Necrozma, finds too extreme.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Banjo was included in both the previous story and this one over half a year before his official announcement at E3 2019, right down to his fighter number being 73. The author himself lampshades this in chapter 31, the first chapter after said event.
- Chapter 24 had a Spirit Battle with Goopy le Grande. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would eventually gain Mii Costumes and Spirits based off of Cuphead, though Goopy was not one of them.
- Sephiroth was already involved in the story as early as Chapter 8. And then he actually became playable in Ultimate as DLC, forcing the author to change his plans for him. Additionally, he correctly predicted that Zelda would represent the Aerith Spirit (unless you purchase her Mii Costume), and Mii Gunner would represent Barret.
- In chapter 27 of Everyone is HERE!, Master Hand brings up "crossing dimensions to fight whimsical beings who wield keys as weapons" when listing off Sephiroth's exploits, before dismissing it as ridiculous. Cut to October 2021, and Sora is revealed as the final DLC fighter for Ultimate.
- Unexpected Character:
- Some unexpected faces show up during the Dark Realm arc, such as Knight Artorias, Sif, Exdeath, Kabal, and even Pyramid Head.
- While Metal Gear EXCELSUS was teased at the beginning of the Dark Realm arc, it wasn't teased that Raiden would lend the Smashers a helping hand when the time came to fight it.
