- Ensemble Dark Horse: If you're not here for the novelty of Mario partaking in Ruder and Cruder humor, you may have heard of Kinoppe, who appears to be a strong contender for the most moe character in the Mario franchise. In fact, author Kazuki Motoyama's former editor pitched a Spin-Off manga starring her, which fell through once Comic Bom Bom lost the Mario license... only for Motoyama to self-publish a doujinshi revisiting the idea in 2019 titled Kinoppe Chan Forever.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Long before Toadette made her debut in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, this comic came up its own Distaff Counterpart for Toadnote named "Kinoppe". Her more humanoid appearance makes her doubly ironic with the advent of Peachette in New Super Mario Bros. U.
- Likewise, this yonkoma came up with a hypothetical "player 2" for Wario long before Mario Tennis graced us with Waluigi.
- The second manga based on Super Mario Land puts its focus on a Tetris themed setting. Which features a group of characters based on all seven Tetriminos, and a "King of Tetris" (which is actually Bowser on a disguise) as their main antagonists. By introducing both the Starship Tetra crew, and Ex,the Keeper of Dimensions,Puyo Puyo Tetris does pretty much their own take on that
- Moe: Risque content aside, the art-styleis very cutesy, with Peach, Wanda, and the aforementioned Kinoppe being the biggest beneficiaries.
- Values Dissonance: Some of its humor seems adult internationally but not in Japan, such as the scene in Super Mario Land where Mario's genitals are exposed. It also has some odd elements due to its age, such as Mario coming off as sexist at times.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: It's a kid's manga but has a lot of adult humor. Can we mention that this manga shows Mario's genitals one more time?
