- Angst? What Angst?: Picard isn't perturbed when Data is decapitated, despite worrying about Data's "death" foretold by his head being found. Picard sounds relieved, if anything, since he's probably surmised that it's Just a Flesh Wound for Data since his body is operational.
- Funny Moments:
- When Guinan discovers Twain had been eavesdropping, she scolds him with a classic "Shame on you!"
- Data having to correct a man that he's neither married nor wearing pyjamas.
- Data holding an anvil, before realising he needs to be human, so awkwardly putting it down and saying flatly, "Ouch".
- Mark Twain deciding that a life without poverty or bigotry might be "worth giving up cigars for".
- Data trying to use gambler's lingo, but sounding funny due to his inflection:Data: "Baby needs a new pair of shoes."
- Heartwarming Moments:
- Picard regrets only having a few moments to chat with Twain. Twain chuckles and tells Picard to just read his books — everything that he is are in his books. The real Twain said as much.
- At the end of the episode, Picard and Guinan exchange warm looks, as if reaffirming her earlier musing "Full circle".
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Here, Data played Puck. A couple of years later, Brent Spiner would play the same character.
- Futurama would do the same "android head gets stuck in the past so the main characters find it in the future and reattach it" plot in "Roswell That Ends Well".
