• Creator's Favorite: Jerry Hardin loved playing Samuel Clemens so much that he created a one man show in which he traveled around the country teaching about Clemens' life while in character.
• Deleted Role: A scene involving a morgue attendant, played by Van Epperson, was removed from the final episode.
• Enforced Method Acting: The costumes that Gates McFadden and Marina Sirtis wore during the episode were much tighter for their comfort and therefore, their fidgeting regarding the corsets was perfectly in line with their 24th century characters.
• What Could Have Been: This wasn't supposed to be a two-part cliffhanger episode, but with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on the horizon, it became one to assure audiences that TNG wasn't going anywhere yet.
• You Look Familiar: Mark Alaimo (Gul Dukat from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as a gambler.
