• Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Troi clueless about Geordi's brainwashing till the end, or was her talk with Geordi when he "came back from Risa" an attempt at prodding to the truth that was thwarted?
• Fridge Horror: It's possible the Romulans put together their plan to manipulate Geordi using his VISOR after what they were told by Centurion Bochra from season 3's "The Enemy". "Welcome to Galorndon Core, where no good deed goes unpunished", indeed.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While it's enjoyable seeing Data playing detective, it wouldn't have hurt showing Troi and Worf also working with him to foil the Romulans' plot, e.g. Worf detecting the E-band signals, and Troi being the one Geordi talked to about his nightmares, and then all three putting the pieces together.
