- Accidental Innuendo: Klag tells Riker during the meal that if Klingon food was too hard for him to eat, he could ask one of the females to breastfeed him. While the insult is evident (calling Riker a baby) the erotic implications of trying that come to mind as well, especially when the Klingon women later come on to him.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- While originally intended as a Moment of Awesome, it's now impossible to watch the scene where Riker comandeers the Klingon ship and tells the crew "Now I am the captain" without thinking of the almost identical line of dialogue in Captain Phillips and the meme it spawned.
- Riker's willingness to engage in a threesome with two Klingon women (or at least his jokeful boast of doing so) becomes this when Star Trek: Discovery reveals that the redundancy of Klingon organs extends to the males'...external organs. He's got some bravado if he thinks he can compensate for that. (On the other hand, he could also learn about what Klingon females have.)
- Special Effect Failure: The gagh seen in this episode is clearly just purple-dyed noodles. While this was almost certainly done so that it wouldn't be too unpalatable for Jonathan Frakes to eat, gagh seen in later shows would look much more convincingly live and squirmy.
