YMMV / Stampylongnose

Go To

  • Adorkable: Stampy is very passionate about gaming, best demonstrated by his long discussions with Squid in the Magic Animal Club podcast. He also laughs "like a goon", has a long nose, and wild curly hair.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: For the fist five minutes of Episode 2 of Stormwater, Stampy and Squid talk in high-pitched voices about their budget holiday.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Any video with Lee Bear. He was Put on a Bus because it was found out that he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman when he was younger.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Stampy and Sqaishey's relationship in a nutshell. Even when they're messing with each other or arguing, it's incredibly obvious just how much they love each other.
    • In Episode 4 of Sky Den, "We Love David", Stampy and Sqaishey spend a solid chunk of the episode making fun of David before realizing that they might have been a bit too mean, and then go and hug David to make up for it.
    • In Episode 30 of Space Den, "Going In Hot", Sqaishey and Stampy finally find and rescue Kevin, and their reunion is nothing less than adorable, with Kevin expressing gladness to be back with his "best friends".
    • In Episode 56 of Space Den, "Play With Buggies", Stampy realizes he usually forgets to put the link to the next video in the description, and promises the viewer he'll add a secret to the description in order to make it up. What's the secret? "You deserve to be happy."
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In Quest, Stampy suggests throwing bread on the floor five times and then kissing a duck might bring him good luck. Years later, Sqaishey, who is a duck in their videos, and Stampy become a couple. So, you could say that Stampy really did kiss a duck.
    • After creating a map for Stampy to play through, Sqaishey showed it off a YouTube video and at the end, they say, "This is going to be interesting." Looking back on it now, "interesting" probably doesn't even cover it.
  • The Inverse Law of Fandom Levity: Regarding Lighter and Softer Stampy only, as the time he targeted adults fits the majority of his current audience better. Despite Stampy portraying himself as someone who wants to create a Sugar Bowl with his brand, and is trying to seem as innocent as possible, for the sake of fun, much of his audience consists of extremely edgy, immature people who don't fit into this, mostly being rather entitled and focusing entirely on "meme culture" than what his videos depict. Not all of the audience, but some of it. As a result, it does not portray Stampy with the image he wants to give himself, thanks to his audience completely contradicting it.
  • Moment of Awesome:
  • From the Dens series, Sqaishey defeating the Wither and the Ender Dragon while blindfolded in Cave Den, and Stampy similarly defeating the Wither with one hand in Ocean Den. And then both of them defeating the Wither using spaghetti in Space Den.
  • Stampy's appearance in Minecraft: Story Mode As Himself.
  • Finally getting 10 million subscribers on 8 February 2021.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Creative Mode Fairy from Ocean Den can definitely fall into this category sometimes. An all-powerful being that's extremely detached from concepts such as friendship, can destroy and create objects without effort, including mobs such as blazes, and has even killed Stampy before (granted, he got better, but still). One fan even made a fake horror movie trailer based on their episodes.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Early on in Quest, Stampy and Squid have to start a new world because they forgot to spawn in strongholds, and all their dogs are lost forever.
    • Cave Den has Episode 48, "Time Apart". After getting into an argument in the previous video, Stampy and Sqaishey split up to make their own individual Dens... only for them to quickly realize that they deeply miss each other, no matter how hard they deny it. It turns into the happy sort of tearjerker when the two reunite, however.
