  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In Chapter 32, Luffy obliterated Bartholomew Kuma with Goro Goro no Mi. In One Piece canon, Kuma is the father of Jewelry Bonney and in Egghead arc, she begged Luffy not to hurt him even if it was a Pacifista replica of her father that attacked him for doing its duty as a guard of Egghead Island. This does not bode well when Bonney eventually learns of Kuma's death and find the one responsible to avenge him. Which it would be Luffy whom she encountered at Sabaody. Kuma also turns out to be a really good person who has saved thousands of slaves in the past, and even defied Saturn of the Five Elders doing so. So, Luffy accidentally destroyed one of the Grand Line's greatest heroes.
      • To rub further salt in the wound, One Piece Chapter 1095 reveals that Bartholomew Kuma was the last of the Buccaneer race and he was holding out hope that the Sun God Nika will appear one day as his deceased father told him. Which means that not only he perished with the Buccaneers now extinct, he died to Luffy who would have been Nika if he had eaten the Gum-Gum Fruit instead of letting it go to Shanks and chose the Rumble-Rumble Fruit.
    • In Chapters 36 and 37, Garp turned against the World Government upon finding out they apparently "killed" his grandson and rampaged at Marineford. He even aired the dirty laundry for all Marines to hear before being subdued by Sengoku and Tsuru, and sent to Impel Down's Level 6 where Ace is currently held at for treason. In One Piece canon, the World Government dislikes Garp for his passive aggressive defiance against the Celestial Dragons and his Military Maverick attitude which he got away with it due to his great reputation as the Hero of the Marines. The World Government must have been very pleased that they finally have the excuse to arrest him.
    • The Straw Hats use a collar on Sanji so he won't flirt with the enemy. While it will be helpful in the future, it can make the Whole Cake Island arc harder, because him complimenting Pudding's third eye even after knowing she was a Honey Trap then redeems her and saves everyone on his side.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Ace killed Blackbeard's first crewmates in revenge this time, even if he still lost because of Doflamingo. Post-timeskip, since Doflamingo is still active, Teach will still have problems with his agency, while the death of Van Augur, which was the most explicit in the story, means his minions can't teleport and cause all the damage they caused in the canon Final Saga. This means Blackbeard's threat level has been greatly reduced without Luffy lifting a finger. Also Heartwarming in Hindsight because it means that even if things go as wrong as canon, Ace's quest for revenge will still be much more favorably meaningful in the long run.
