• Crosses the Line Twice: Another corner stone of his humor really.
  • One stand out example is his choice for a Youtooz figurine. A fetus? A bit gross and kinda squicky. A fetus figurine of Pelo himself, with his big black afro and a very defined ass crack? Pretty funny. The video advertising the figurine, being incredibly manic and showcasing things as putting it in a jar and giving it cummies? Gut-bustingly hilarious.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Spooky Month. Despite starting as a rather short toon for Halloween and lacking much of the regular Pelo insanity one can be used to, it quickly became one of his most beloved series and a yearly tradition for Newgrounds. Skid and Pump themselves ended up becoming the first guest characters in Friday Night Funkin', with Newgrounds mainstays like Pico and Tankman coming later on.
• Fountain of Memes: The man and the things he makes are either very quotable or easy to use as memes.
• Fridge Horror: In the Johnknee and Ill episode Gift, we can see that at the end Johnknee gets turned into a gift by Ill, and is later picked up by himself. This means that the gift Johnknee was stomping on was himself.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: One of his most quoted Underpants line is from SANESS saying "WANNA HAVE A BAD TOM???". Later on he streams himself playing Cuphead. What is his reaction when Werner Werman is eaten by the cat in the background?
  "IT'S TOM! IT'S TOM!"
• Shallow Parody: Every Fuckin FPS Game revolves around shallow caricatures of FPS games (especially ones that were popular at the time the video was uploaded) like Team Fortress 2 and PAYDAY: The Heist.
• Trans Audience Interpretation: Despite being named Shotgun Man, many introduced to the character via his cameo in Spooky Month see him as nonbinary due to his rather androgynous appearance in said cameo.
• The Woobie: Johnknee only seems to exist to be tormented and tortured by Ill. When he finally grows a spine and begins to fight back against Ill, he suffers even worse fates at her hands.
