YMMV / Spider-Men

Go To

  • Continuity Lock-Out: This comic may be a hard read for new readers that are unfamiliar with the Ultimate Marvel universe. There are several references to events from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic, the Avengers are not the Avengers but The Ultimates, Gwen Stacy is neither the original nor Spider-Gwen, Ultimate Mysterio, etc. Not to mention that Peter Parker and Miles Morales live in different universes, which is not their current status in comics.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Peter visiting a world where he died gets a lot worse in light of what happens to him in the build-up to Superior Spider Man.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: before going back home, Peter has some advices for Miles. The first one? "Don't let anyone clone you. Seriously." That was a reference to The Clone Saga. Miles was cloned and even had his own clone saga starting in Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2018) #25.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • There is some trepidition because the editors in the letters' pages have impliednote  that they will continue writing Mainstream-Ultimate crossovers. One of the reasons why the Ultimate universe is popular, and one of its distinct qualities, is that it is untouched by the mainstream universe, giving it a lot more freedom in development. Opening the floodgates of crossover-dom may turn it into just another alternate universe, is one opinion.
    • A lot of fans also dislike that it's the post-One More Day Peter that crosses over with Miles, rather than the more accomplished, Happily Married version, who would have been a better role model and inspiration to the new Spidey.
