YMMV / South Park: Snow Day!

Go To

  • Franchise Original Sin: The game is commonly criticized for its short length and clunky combat. South Park: The Stick of Truth also wasn't very long and received some criticism for its combat, but still ended up critically acclaimed due to its engaging plot. Snow Day, on the other hand, has much less story emphasis, leaving the game with a much weaker critical reception and mixed reviews on Steam.
  • Funny Moments: Towards the end of the gameplay trailer, Kyle and Cartman argue over the possibility of the former's army gearing up to attack the latter's base. When Kyle asks who told Cartman that, he says Clyde told him. When Kyle asks if Cartman believes everything Clyde says, what's Cartman's response?
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: A common complaint is that the game is not very long. It can be beaten in just 4 to 5 hours.
  • Older Than They Think: This isn't the first time a South Park game forgoes the traditional 2D aesthetic of the show in favor of 3D models. The last time a South Park game was fully rendered in 3D was all the way back in 1999, and the very first South Park game in 1998 was also rendered in 3D.
  • Tainted by the Preview: Fans were not very happy that the game was in 3D and not in the 2D show accurate art style like in The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole. The fact Snow Day reused the fantasy theme of The Stick of Truth rather than a new theme, like how The Fractured But Whole switched to the Superhero genre, did not help the reception.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Snow Day was met with skepticism from its initial announcement. When the game came out, it received noticeably low review scores (including a 3/10 from IGN) which criticized its repetitive combat, barebones graphics, and only having 5 hours of gameplay (at best). Unlike the previous two games, there isn't much of a story, and the comedy feels a few years out of date, which is unusual since South Park is known for being topical. On the positive side, the game at least has the original voices from the show and is priced cheaper at $30.
