- Alternate Character Interpretation: When it’s revealed that the critters’ savior to be is the Antichrist, Deery and Chickadee-y state that God would never impregnate an animal, only the prince of darkness himself. One can see this as the critters only becoming Satanists because it was the only way they’d have any kind of “Jesus” for their own. Still doesn’t make them any less fucked up.
- Alternative Joke Interpretation: Was Kyle dying of AIDS actually part of the story from the beginning, or did Cartman ad-libbed that part to spite Kyle for interrupting his story?
- Catharsis Factor: With all the horrible deeds that the critters committed, it's so satisfying watching Santa blow their brains out with a shotgun.
- Crosses the Line Twice: Once the reveal happens that the critters are Satanic, the episode continues to pile on as much shock humor as possible. They sacrifice Rabbity the Rabbit, then proceed to have an orgy in his blood for no reason other than to further contrast their previous innocent image.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Cartman ends his story by having Kyle die of AIDS. Four seasons later in "Tonsil Trouble", Cartman intentionally infects Kyle with HIV.
- It Was His Sled: The critters are evil Satanists trying to bring about the Anti-Christ. It has become something of a Late-Arrival Spoiler in later episodes such as the "Imaginationland" trilogy, as well as the video game South Park: The Fractured but Whole.
- Moral Event Horizon: The Woodland Critters trick Stan into killing the benevolent mountain lion (who had three cubs) so they can give birth to the Antichrist. If that didn't seal the deal, it was when they attacked Stan with fire to keep him from tearing down the manger, and then mocked him for falling for their ploy.
