- Alternative Character Interpretation: Even though coming out as a lesbian would have instantly solved the situation with Stan and Wendy, Ms. Ellen never actually confirms her sexual orientation one way or the other in the episode. This leaves it open to interpretation as to whether she actually is a lesbian but didn't want to publicly admit it given the less tolerant atmosphere at the time (which later saw Mr. Garrison get Reassigned to Antarctica for a couple of years after he came out), whether she falsely told Chef that she wasn't interested in men in order to make him back off, or whether Chef was so embarrassed at getting rejected by her that he told the boys she was a lesbian in order to save face.
- Broken Base: Wendy's portrayal in this episode split the base in half, which isn't helped by her character's already polarizing status. It's either her most popular episode, featuring the character as a Magnificent Bitch and Little Miss Badass that is on par with Cartman from arguably his most popular episode Scott Tenorman Must Die, or a jarring Jerkass Ball -holding episode that ruined any sympathy the viewers might have for her character going forward, since she's otherwise presented as a Nice Girl or at least a character with sympathetic qualities (which doesn't sit well with people who believe her murder of Ms. Ellen to be her Moral Event Horizon).
- Crosses the Line Twice: Wendy being a Clingy Jealous Girl for Stan, who is attracted to another girl is quite generic. The third girl in question being a grown woman who is completely impartial to this Love Triangle? That's less common. Wendy going full Yandere and getting said woman framed and killed, with the episode's ending having her return to her happy life with Stan like nothing happened?! Jesus Christ!
- Fridge Brilliance:
- Wendy's rant against Ms. Ellen, complete with (Precision F-Strike), seems to mirror Kyle's Cluster Bleep-Bomb directed at the visitors in Cartman Gets An Anal Probe. Considering the girl didn't even know what a "fuck" was in said episode, it's likely she took some inspiration from him.
- As of this episode, both Stan and Wendy have gotten away with murder. They really are Birds of a Feather.
- Nausea Fuel:
- Wendy getting puked in the mouth by Stan while trying to French-kiss him. The idea of 8-year-olds French-kissing can also count.
- The montage of Stan vomiting around Wendy, culminating in footage of the pilot episode when he barfs on her face.
- Never Live It Down: Even though almost no South Park character is without their criminal record, Wendy Testaburger is likely to never live down having her substitute teacher killed because her boyfriend had a Precocious Crush on her. Even today, many fan works still portray her as a Yandere even though the worst thing that she has done since is harass Stan over him not adding her as a friend on Facebook. It doesn't help that this episode's plot heavily resembles Scott Tenorman Must Die, frequently cited as Cartman's Moral Event Horizon by many, only Wendy bounces back to her default role after this episode, while the latter one serves as Cartman's Start of Darkness. It also doesn't help that there are many fans who prefer the Magnificent Bitch side of Wendy to her Soapbox Sadie or Nice Girl side.
- The Woobie: Poor Ms. Ellen spends the entire episode being either flirted with or hated on by her own students, and then she's framed and killed by one of her students for the horrid crime of being pretty.
