• The Band Minus the Face: Without Demi Lovato, the star of the parent series.
• Cult Classic: The show still has a small, but devoted following despite it being largely forgotten by Disney. However, former cast members Shayne Topp and Damien Haas have kept So Random’s legacy alive through Smosh, even featuring their other cast mates in several videos.
• Fanon Discontinuity: Some fans and even others who never watched Sonny with a Chance claimed this never happened.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: A real-life version of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune premiered in 2021, on Disney-owned ABC, no less.
• Retroactive Recognition: Shayne Topp and Damien Haas, who portrayed recurring characters Shayne Zabo and Damien Johanssen, would later go on to join the cast of Smosh in 2015. Since then, they’ve carried the So Random! legacy with them. The latter would also go on to begin a successful voice acting career, with his most well-known roles being the male version of Shez from the English dub of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and Laios from the English dub of Delicious in Dungeon.
• Seasonal Rot: Disney+ marked the show as Sonny's season 3, ensuring it would look worse than the actual Sonny by comparision.
• Shallow Parody: It appears whoever wrote the Harry Potter sketch only knew a couple of names from the book, as Harry, who was raised by Muggles in a normal English city, struggles with life in the real world, but Ron, who has very little normal world experience in the books, gets along fine. They also don't seem to acknowledge Ginny's existance. It was later confirmed by Shayne Topp that the writers had never seen or read Harry Potter before doing the parody.
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: The big criticism of the show is that it comes across as Disney's very tame and unfunny answer to All That.
