YMMV / Seal

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: His biggest hits are the dance track "Killer", the electronica "Crazy" and the baroque "Kiss From A Rose". His usual style however is easy-listening ballads.
  • Covered Up: Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like an Eagle", as featured in Space Jam.
  • Epileptic Trees: Seriously, what is "Kiss from a Rose" about? It can most obviously be interpreted as a love song, but it could also easily be interpreted as being about drug addiction, general desire or even religion.
  • Funny Moments: The lyrics to "Kiss from a Rose" on Genius (a lyrical analysis website) features commentary from Seal himself, explaining when he wrote the song, and his thoughts on the recording process. Then, when it gets to the actual lyrics...
I have avoided explaining these lyrics for over 25 years. I am not going to start doing it now.
  • Older Than They Think: Batman Forever was not the first film to have "Kiss from a Rose" on its soundtrack; that goes to The NeverEnding Story III: Escape from Fantasia.
  • Signature Song: Either "Killer", "Crazy" or "Kiss from a Rose"; helps the latter was featured in Batman Forever.
