YMMV / Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
  • Best Known for the Fanservice: The scenes that get reposted the most involve Daphne in her lingerie-esque sleepwear.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Fellow competitors Emma, Pauldini, Girl-O-Saurus-Rex and Waldo the ventriloquist are all quite colorful and memorable. Borders on They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character for the latter three, since they quickly get run off without being developed as suspects much or given a chance to perform in the actual show.
  • Genius Bonus:
    • Swapping the name of the hotel, "Drake", for "Canard" makes more sense if you know what the French word for "duck" is.
    • While a lot have caught Phantom references, there's a lot in this movie that really makes it feel like an attempt at a throwback. Some may in fact not fully have the off-hand knowledge to get why some things here are a Shout-Out or a Mythology Gag.
  • Glurge: The movie squeezes in a pointlessly corny moment at the end of the talent show when Fred and Daphne decide to throw the contest so Emma can win rather than just win and give Emma the money.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: After the movie's release, it would go public that the voice of Chrissy Damon, Ariel Winter, had been subjected to abuse from her Stage Mom.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Stage Fright rises a step or two above the four movies preceding it, being the first film in the series since Scooby-Doo: Camp Scare to get higher than 7.0 on IMDB.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Stinger reveals that Shaggy and Scooby have spent part of the film urging Fred to tell Daphne how he feels the same way Velma has been encouraging Daphne. Given Fred and Shaggy are usually The Friends Who Never Hang, the fact that this happened off screen can be seen as a wasted opportunity to develop their relationship more.
