Funny / Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright

Go To

  • Daphne's repeated assertions that she and Fred are "just friends".
  • Shaggy and Scooby's repeated attempts to sneak past the security guard who wants to keep dogs out of the building.
  • Apparently, Fred sleeps with a net.
  • Cathy of Girl-a-saurus Rex seems to fail to comprehend how to be "metal".
  • After demolishing a massive pizza, and subsequently splattering the entire restaurant with cheese, Scooby and Shaggy are... given a standing ovation for managing to eat the pizza.
  • Lotte threatens Shaggy and Scooby in the pizzeria:
    • Complete with an Evil Laugh and carving her name into Shaggy's shirt with her ridiculously long fingernails.
    • And carving the final letter on Scooby's chest fur when she runs out of room on Shaggy's shirt.
  • The Homewrecker song. A little number beautifully sung by a pre-teen girl...which is about how you should keep the hell away from her man. Throughout the scene, Chrissy punches and knocks over her camera men as she sings. What's funny is that this is a rehearsal, meaning the performance is meant to have her doing that!
  • The reveal of the original Phantom:
    • When the gang tracks him down in the catacombs, he gives a hammy, dramatic speech about finally being found after hiding all his life to conceal his horrifying deformity and yanks off the mask...to reveal a perfectly normal face much less terrifying than his mask. The gang, unsure how to react, says nothing, leading him to open one eye after a moment. The sheer anticlimax is hilarious.
    • The original Phantom is flabbergasted by the lack of reaction to his hideously deformed face. It turns out, the only mirror he owned was a fun house mirror, and he doesn't look that bad at all. Yes, he's not happy that he's wasted the last forty years of his life, but he just can't get over how handsome he is!
  • Freddy has come to the conclusion that their Busman's Holidays would be too big a coincidence if they were just happening to Mystery Inc. So he believes that everyone must run into ghosts and monsters all of the time. Bit of Fridge Logic funny, but he may not be wrong, considering the number of mystery solving teams that Hanna-Barbera has done over the years.
  • Scooby's "Grumpy Old Man" disguise for the night of the show, especially when Shaggy is trying to train him how to behave. He bends over and gives him a list of stereotypical mutterings like "these kids today" in a creaky older voice, even doing a slight Angry Fist-Shake during part of the mutterings.
  • During the actual broadcast, Chrissy gets caught on camera making an angry face. When she realizes the audience can see her, she quickly and awkwardly switches to a smile.
  • At the end the police officer decides to yell out "Is anybody else here the Phantom?" just be sure.
  • Quite a bit with Dewey.
    • His demand to clean a garbage can because of how filthy it is.
    • When Fred and Daphne come to check in, his Beleaguered Assistant Colette is repeatedly using smelling salts on him because he keeps fainting whenever he mentions the Phantom. Velma asks her if she knows that can mess with the nose if overdone, and Colette asks whether she means hers or Dewey's. Once Velma confirms the latter, she goes back to using the smelling salts without missing a beat.
    • When he's caught dressed as the Phantom he initially tries to deny being Dewey before being reminded that he still has his earpiece in and it's broadcasting everything. Not to mention he's not even wearing the Phantom mask at the time. Then he tries to run and falls down the fire escape as the gang cringes.
    • His falling into a garbage boat and cursing out "You Meddling Kids and your filthy, germy dog!"
  • The exasperated Shaggy and Scooby yelling the obvious solution to Fred's romantic dilemma at him in unison.
