YMMV / Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur

Go To

  • Fan Nickname: "Ultra Instinct Shaggy" for Shaggy during the fight at the restaurant.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • A monstrous Tyrannosaur-like fictional theropod leading a pack of (4) "Velociraptors", followed by a scene in which the raptors are running past guys on motorcycles. Hmmm...
    • The Ultra Instinct Shaggy jokes became official with MultiVersus having Shaggy as part of the starting roster, complete with him even having, quoting the game's website itself, "limitless power of unknown origin" and even having one of his spawning lines be the one that prompted the biker brawl in the first place. It’s even more hilarious when the devs revealed that this film was the one that gave WB the idea to make MultiVersus in the first place.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Many fans watch the film just for the scene where Shaggy mops the floor with an entire biker gang.
  • Memetic Badass:
    • Thanks to the above-mentioned scene, Shaggy's brave side is becoming one. To quote one YouTube commenter:
Now I know why Shaggy is a coward, the world couldn't handle him if he wasn't one.
    • This got taken even further with the Dragon Ball Super fandom, which depicted Shaggy as using Ultra Instinct by remixing his fight scene with music and effects from DBS, and Ultra Instinct Shaggy became a memetic Dragon Ball fan character of sorts.
  • Memetic Mutation: The diner scene where Shaggy turns brave, and beats up a massive gang of bikers. The internet has since turned Shaggy into an all-powerful god that can destroy entire universes using only 5% of his power. The Logo Gag for Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms even gets in on the fun by having a sorcery-empowered Shaggy lift Scorpion by the neck, and MultiVersus making him a fighter with direct nods to the meme.
Shaggy: Like, get over here, man.
  • Moment of Awesome: When you go to the page, Shaggy gets at least half.
  • Narm Charm: Tex's look of wonder after being saved by Shaggy (after he sprouts a cheesy one-liner) looks so out of place on a dude like that, but given that he just saved his life, it makes it into a heartwarming moment instead.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Shakey Joe only appears in one scene, but still stands out for being a rather humorous character.
  • Signature Scene: The scene where Shaggy (who was hypnotized into being brave) fights an entire biker gang, and wins is the most memorable scene of the film.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: "The Phantosaur Song" is practically identical to "Mama Told Me Not to Come".
  • Watch It for the Meme: Many watched the film because of it being the source of the infamous "Ultra Instinct Shaggy" meme.
