  • Alternate Character Interpretation: "I Can't Decide" is universally viewed by listeners as a Faux Affably Evil villain's twisted serenade toward his Worthy Opponent.
  • Awesome Music: Take your pick!
  • Broken Base: A mild example between Jake's fans and Ana's fans on who contributes more.
  • Funny Moments: Definitely, the ad for their album Magic Hour featuring Josh Homme babbling complete nonsense about it.
Josh: I'm Joshua Homme, you may unmember me from last night or Queens of the Stone Age.
    • From "Any Which Way":
"Take me anywhere baby: in front of the fireplace, in front of your yacht, in front of my parents!"
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The band have a small cult following in the United States, but frequently tops the charts in the UK, to the point that only three of their eleven singles have even been released as such stateside.
    • They even had a pair of Irish murderess sisters named after them. The women in question killed their mother's Kenyan boyfriend, sliced up his body (but not with scissors) and hid the pieces. His head was never recovered. The band were horrified by the association.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Mary" is a mournful tune about Jake Shears' platonic love for his friend Mary, who had just suffered an aneurysm ("After all the pain is gone/I'm always gonna live to be your man."). It was released two years before she died of another one.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "I Can't Decide." gained notoriety after it became a popular backing track for AMVs of the character archetype that would later be classified as "Tumblr Sexymen".
  • Nightmare Fuel: "A Message from Ms. Matronic" from their first album. It's the track that plays on the UK album to both thank you for buying the album and to let you know the bonus tracks are starting and a sound will play so the listener can either keep listening or restart the album. Doesn't sound bad at all, right? Well for whatever reason, the noise they chose to let the viewer know is a blood-curdling scream, which is played twice - the second time being after a solid few seconds of dead silence. It's bound to catch the average listener off-guard.
  • Signature Song: "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'".
  • Song Association:
  • Tear Jerker: "The Other Side", "Mary" and "Return to Oz".
