• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Tari and the gorilla can be seen as this during the ending. Yes, Mario did call the latter “ugly” and hurt its feelings, but the fact the did so after the gorilla basically sexually harassed his hand puppet, along with the gorilla reacting by beating him to a pulp, makes it seem more like him just trying to defend himself from someone who he hadn’t even provoked. In turn, this makes the moment where Tari basically threatens him at gunpoint (in a horribly out of character moment), along with the gorilla kidnapping Mario again after the latter finally apologized, very unsatisfying.
