  • Awesome Music: The music in "Presence" adds a lot to the mood of the short.
  • Gateway Series: Thanks to the Sci Fi Channel's mid-to-late-'90s Japanimation Week and Saturday Anime.

    • For the English dub produced by Carl Macek himself, most of the shorts were unedited, but the order in which they appeared were altered from the Japanese release. This was due to considerations regarding the theatrical release of the film. Robot Carnival was originally an OVA. The various segments were received separately by Streamline, and then subsequently assembled to fill out 2000-foot film reels. In order to keep the actual distribution of the film manageable (and affordable), the shorts were arranged to minimize reel changes; it would have required additional reels — and some very jarring cuts — to keep the product in its original order. The altered order was retained for the Streamline VHS release and television broadcasts, despite the changes being unnecessary in those mediums.
    • The film's original closing segment includes some flashbacks hinting at the origins of the Robot Carnival itself, but these were edited out in the Streamline release. The segment featured the directors' credits — in Japanese, of course — running over them; neutral closing credits, however, are required for international distribution, and when Streamline asked A.P.P.P. Co. for them it turned out they'd never bothered to make any. The mutually agreed-upon solution was to cut the Japanese titles out, and run the translated credits over a black screen accompanied by still images of characters from the film. (Discotek's solution was to simply add English subtitles to the closing, and run the complete ending credits in both Japanese and English afterward.)
  • Memetic Mutation: The cheating boyfriend from "Star Light Angel"’s heavy resemblance to Char Aznable has led to many YouTube commenters joking about “Char breaking more young girls’ hearts.”
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The "Franken's Gears" segment has some truly stunning lighting effects for pre-CG era.
