YMMV / Raw Deal (1986)

Go To

  • Narm:
    • Kaminsky justifying killing a suspect to his former FBI colleague by yelling "He molested, murdered and mutilated her!" in Arnold Schwarzenegger's trademark thick Austrian accent.
    • At the gravel pit fight shootout, when Kaminsky jumps out of his car in the nick of time (to avoid getting sandwiched between a wheel loader and a rock truck) Arnold lets out one of his giggle-inducing, super narm-y "NYAAEEGH!" screams.
  • Signature Scene:
    • Kaminsky's Establishing Character Moment where he chases his jeep after a phony motorcycle cop and catches the wily fugitive with unorthodox tactics is considered the most memorable scene of the movie by many people.
    • The "You should not drink and bake" part is also the most popular Funny Moment of the film and it gets brought up often when not discussing the plot or action scenes.
  • So Okay, It's Average: It's a very standard action flick from The '80s, even with Arnie's charisma, and few consider it anywhere near either his best or worst movie or performance.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • The hitmen from the opening scene get a good Avengers Assemble intro which establishes their lethal skills, murder the son of the Big Good (which could make any fights with them later on have an It's Personal vibe) and then remain The Unfought Karma Houdinis afterward.
    • Lamanski's chauffeur is a Badass Driver and possible Innocent Bystander who finds himself marked as acceptable collateral damage for the undercover Kaminsky to go after to keep his cover in the same way as the unambiguous mobsters in his car. This could have caused Kamisnky stress about his job or caused him to risk his cover helping the chauffeur survive, but neither happens and the man remains a Spear Carrier.
  • Values Resonance: For a film made in the '80s it surprisingly doesn't indulge in any casual homophobic remarks, common for the time, or the Creepy Crossdresser trope, during the scene at the gay night club.
