- Box Office Bomb: Budget, $11 million. Box office, $16 million (domestic), $18.1 million (worldwide). The first film released by DEG and the first of several busts that would kill the studio a few years later.
- Contractual Obligation Project: Arnold Schwarzenegger only agreed to star in this picture after much haggling in exchange for dissolving his multi-picture agreement with Dino De Laurentiis. He had one picture left with the producer and was actually very interested in doing Total Recall (1990), but De Laurentiis objected, feeling that he was not suitable for the lead role of Quaid. Instead, Patrick Swayze was already cast before the bankruptcy.
- Creator's Oddball: Of all the films from Arnold's 80s heyday, this is the one where he really stands out as being ridiculously miscast, playing an FBI agent with a talent for undercover work rather than an ancient warrior, killer machine or elite soldier. Along with Red Sonja, it's one of two films he was strongarmed into doing by Dino Di Laurentiis - notably, these are also his only two box office bombs from this era.
- One for the Money; One for the Art: According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dino De Laurentiis decided to produce this film because he needed quick cash for his long gestating project Total Recall (1990). At that time, he owned the rights to the film. The failure of this film to make adequate money (only $16 million) resulted in De Laurentiis' bankruptcy and Total Recall's sale of rights to Carolco Pictures.
- Working Title: Let's Make A Deal, Triple Identity.
