• Broken Base:
  • While some people love the third arc merely for it being Rat Queens, others have been very vocal about the sudden turn in the story.
  • Tess Fowler, the artist for the third arc, has also been getting flak. While most people praised her Braga special, others have criticized her style as stiff to sustain an ongoing, specially after Stjepan Sejic and Roc Upchurch's departure.
• Complete Monster: Voon is the brother of Braga. Before Braga's transition, Voon attempted to murder her and killed Braga's lover. Later becoming a "flesher" orc who can reshape the bodies of others, Voon forms an orc warband and leads them to massacre innocents all throughout the forests, while having innocents abducted to horrifically experiment on them, killing most and breaking the minds of others with torture, even children. Attempting to hunt down Braga, Voon attempts to torture and murder the Rat Queens, torturously reshaping their flesh while intending on sparking a war to salve his wounded ego.
• Fan-Preferred Couple: Violet and Orc Dave. Fans trended negative against the Demons arc, but when #16 depicted Violet murdering Dave the backlash knocked the series offline for a year while Wiebe recalibrated.
• Salvaged Story: After the third arc went so bleak that the entire series faced cancellation, Kurtis Wiebe came back with a fourth arc that ignored the most-hated elements and restored some fan goodwill, and then the fifth arc revealed it was all an Alternate Timeline. Oh, and the hideously unpopular murder of Orc Dave was actually Violet killing a doppelganger given away by Violet's knowledge of the real Dave's genitals.
• Squick: Whatever Gerrig did to Bernadette resulted in her losing her eyes. Even the comic gets freaked out by this, with the Next Issue box in the same panel consisting entirely of FUCK.
• Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The series starts becoming bleak with the third arc and it just gets worse. By the end of it, they failed to save Hannah's dad, Dee's brother gets killed with no one the wiser, Hannah goes full evil and the party splits.
  • The start of the fourth arc in issue #16 kills whatever shred of goodwill you had left by having Violet kill Orc Dave, one part of a fan-favorite couple, with the reasoning not yet being revealed.
  • Wisely, Wiebe put the series on hold for a year to retool. The 2017 reboot introduced new artist Owen Gieni and reset to undo much of the third arc and incorporate fan favorite Braga into the team.
