- Evil Is Cool: Leonard Smalls is such an over-the-top badass, and portrayed in such apocalyptic terms, that it's almost impossible not to find him extremely cool, even if he is an evil child trafficker who blows up bunny rabbits for kicks.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The fact that Nicolas Cage is pursued by a seemingly demonic biker who is introduced riding a bike that leaves a trail of flames becomes particularly amusing given that twenty years later, he would play Ghost Rider, a different demonic biker with a flaming bike.
- Nightmare Fuel: Funny as this movie is, the biker Leonard Smalls is scary, as are H.I's dreams about him.
- Signature Scene: The hilarious over-the-top Chase Scene with its MANY examples of Reckless Gun Usage.
- Vindicated by History: The film received mixed reviews upon release but has since been recognized by many filmmakers and critics as a great comedy. It now holds a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
