• Harsher in Hindsight: While it could've more thoroughly satirized the pitfalls of tourism, the premise of Pyst is sadly Truth in Television, such as in the case of certain tourist spots like Boracay being carelessly exploited by landowners and property developers,^note (the beach area in Aklan was eventually rehabilitated no thanks to Rodrigo Duterte's orders to tidy up the place, though some have criticized the move as being too drastic and draconian considering the economic disruption which ensued from shutting down the resort area wholesale) St. Georges Falls where derelict car bodies were dumped for no good reason, and when a number of Boy Scout leaders unwittingly destroyed an ancient rock formation in Utah.
• Shallow Parody: It had some potential, but unfortunately the game basically degenerated to this, often resorting to low-brow jokes like toilet humor with little in the way of jokes that actually have something to do with the original game. The song "I'm Pyst" also had absolutely nothing to do with the original game either.
• Tear Jerker: Seeing Myst Island in this state, having been trashed by millions of tourists and basically left to die, is actually pretty depressing.
