- Jerkass Woobie: The parents. Even though the mother went insane after the boy's death and even committed murder towards the end of the story and the father was following the mother's orders, you can't help but feel sorry for the both of them as they lost their son due to an accident that they caused.
- Moral Event Horizon: The Mother forcing her family to pretend their dead son is still alive and abusing her daughter are morally questionable in itself, but she truely crosses the line when she kills a random boy to replace her son's decayed corpse.
- Squick: The boy's body starts decaying throughout the story and there are vivid details describing the decomposition of the boy's body such as the boy's body started forming green and brown colors on the skin and maggots started crawling all over the body.
- The Woobie: The girl (a.k.a Gloria). Not only does she witness her mother going insane and forcing her and her father into thinking that the boy is still alive; but she's forced to stay with the dead corpse of her brother in her room and her parents start treating her terribly when she tried to convince them to stop believing that the boy is still alive.
