• He Really Can Act: Comedian Rob Riggle is usually typecast as hard-ass military types because of his background in the Marines. While Noel is somewhat this type, he also has a wider range of emotions, especially at the climax during the snowball fight with Wayne.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic:
  • Wayne is supposed to be seen as a jerk for not doing his job and making Lanny do all the work. However, given that he has done the same job for 200 years and was passed over for a promotion by his previous partner that he trained, you can't blame him for not wanting do his job anymore.
  • Naughty vs Nice tries to make Grace seem naughty so that she can redeem herself via helping the elves during the climax, but considering that the viewers never see this supposed naughty behavior, outside of her attempts to capture the elves, even in relation to her brother, who not only ripped up her favorite toy, but also prevented her from asking the mall Santa for a new one, it's very hard not to sympathize with her being upset and agree with her reasoning that she's been labeled naughty unfairly.
