YMMV / Pokémon Snakewood

Go To

  • Bile Fascination: The hack is infamous for its poor spritework, bad difficulty balance, and especially its bizarre plot and world. Many fans like to play it just to see how hilariously edgy attempts at horror are and find out how ridiculous the story gets.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The Deadly Seven have become somewhat iconic among the Pokémon fans who were around for this hack, to the point that they even got a cameo in Pokémon Clover of all things.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • There's a Fakemon named Hombone, which sounds a lot like hambone.
    • One of the Fakemon is a Hybrid Monster made from cutting up existing Pokemon species and splicing together into a Frankenstein project. Pokémon Sun and Moon introduced a chimaera-like Pokemon named Type: Null with a similar origin, and Pokémon Sword and Shield contain four fossil Pokemon explicitly created by combining body parts that go about as smoothly as the attempt in this game.
    • Another Fakemon, Blastmadio, is a Ghost/Fire-type Pokemon whose theme is exploding. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon introduced Blacephalon, a Fire/Ghost-type Glass Cannon also themed around exploding. Adding to the coincidence is its codename, UB-Burst, sharing likeness with the name of Blastmadio's pre-evolution, Burstmadio.
  • Narm: One of the main criticisms of the game is that its attempts at Nightmare Fuel come across as comically edgy (not helped by the bad sprite work and still using the cheerful music from RSE in spite of it being an ostensibly dark and oppressive game), and that its use of goofy fourth-wall breaking humor isn't well implemented and makes it hard to take what's going on seriously.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The consensus of this hack to those more forgiving toward its flaws. It is agreed to have taken interesting risks and experiments with the plot, but its various flaws keep it from being anything particularly great.
