• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • In the dub, Vulpix's Quick Attack was incorrectly translated as Agility which the Fox Pokémon could not learn at the time. Years later, in Pokémon Sword and Shield, Vulpix can learn Agility via TR12.
  • When this episode initially aired, the gigantic Gengar and Alakazam that appeared were an anime-only thing. Over twenty years later, the concept of gigantic Pokémon would become canon to the games. Furthermore, Ash tried and failed to catch the gigantic Gengar, but twenty years later, he would not only catch a Gengar, but it would also gain the ability to become gigantic.
  • An ancient version of Jigglypuff seemed novel at the time, but it now exists in the form of Scream Tail.
