• Harsher in Hindsight: A scene in a first-season episode in which Leaf's Pikachu and Clefairy, not known for their love of Poké Balls, returning to their respective Poké Balls at the sight of poison gas was Played for Laughs. Then Pokémon: I Choose You! showed Ash getting his own Pikachu, who also dislikes Poké Balls, to return to his Poké Ball to protect him from a bunch of brainwashed Pokémon.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: This fanfic's use of Clefairy as Leaf's main Pokémon becomes all the more poignant in 2018, since her Let's Go! counterpart Blue has a Clefable as her team leader.
