YMMV / Pixel Pinkie

Go To

  • Ass Pull: The finale reveals that genies can only grant a certain (but never specified) number of wishes and once those wishes run out, the genie moves on to another phone, which was a plot point that is never alluded to in past episodes since wishes were hitherto believed to be unlimited.
  • Bile Fascination: Due to its negative reception from critics, it has earned some curious watchers to see if it's as bad as they say it is.
  • Cliché Storm: Two girls, and a Literal Genie's wishes causing shenanigans? Passable. But an entire show where each episode is nothing but said plot with little to no variety? Not so much.
  • Designated Hero: Pixel Pinkie is meant to be an endearing, if a little whimsical character, but her careless wish granting (even during times when no one said "I wish") causes unending problems for Nina, and sometimes Anni when the wish affects her as well. And then there's her tendency to cop an attitude whenever the girls slightly call her out for her slip-ups, no matter how justified their complaints are.
  • Informed Wrongness: Nina confronting Pixel Pinkie about her Literal Genie antics causing trouble is framed as if she's whinging and always has to be the one to set things right with Pixel Pinkie. Granted, it's Nina's fault too for not thinking before speaking, but it still comes off as one-sided.
  • The Scrappy:
    • The title character. Aside from her obnoxious voice, nine times out of ten, she does more harm than good and rarely apologises for her mistakes, if ever.
    • Nina, the protagonist, becomes a tedious character to follow due to her repeated moments of idiocy.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: It's easy to tell that this show is cashing in on The Fairly OddParents!, nearly a decade after FOP first premierednote .
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Being made in the late 2000s, cellphones seen in this series feature separate keypads, small screens, and the early use of phone photography. In one episode, a boy that Nina likes even offers to give her his cell number and picture via infrared, which was already in the wane, being replaced by the more efficient Bluetooth.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley:
    • It looks as if Anni's head is about to fall off, given the position of her neck.
    • Clone!Nina in "Clones R Us", especially after Pixel Pinkie decides to take control of it.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: It's hard to feel sorry for Pixel Pinkie when she's being told off by Nina for a wish going wrong considering she hasn't really shown any remorse, and would sometimes storm off in a huff, leaving Nina and Anni to fend for themselves until Nina resorts to begging for Pixel Pinkie's help and apologises.
