YMMV / Piranha 3DD

• Nightmare Fuel:
  • We have two people about to have sex. Too bad one baby piranha happened to get into the girl's vagina...Also, a baby gets into a bathtub. The girl then opens her eyes and the last thing she sees is the creature heading towards her face, eager to bite.
  • Not to mention the ending, where it's not only revealed that the piranhas are learning to walk on land, but also one of said walking piranhas targeting a little boy.
• Older Than They Think: Bringing killer fish to a water park (in 3D, no less) isn't exactly a new idea; Jaws 3-D did the exact same thing way back in 1983 (but with a shark instead of piranhas, obviously).
• Sequelitis: The general consensus is that 3DD is inferior to the previous movie, with most criticism focusing on the increased comedic slant.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: This movie has the return of Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames, which is surprising for the latter, since he seemingly died at the end of the last film (though it was planned Rhames and the producers to return for a sequel). While Rhames and Lloyd are in it, they are both reduced to glorified cameos and to many fans, they felt that both actors should have had bigger roles in the film. Not the least being both were regarded as the high points of an otherwise weak sequel.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • The plot development at the end of the last film that the piranhas are growing to the size of humans is completely ignored in favour of keeping the regular piranhas.
  • For that matter, having the piranha terrorize a water park full of people could make for a good horror set piece. Instead, by the time the piranha attack happens, they aren't even the main focus. It almost gets treated as a mere background event. This is especially disappointing when compared to the big piranha attack scene in the previous film.
