• Base-Breaking Character:
  • Yang’s character and route is perhaps the most controversial amongst players. While some players claim that his route was one of the more interesting due to how closely it resembles the actual mafia, others find him unromantic and having far too many problematic elements to be considered an enjoyable love interest. Though a fair number of players do find him more refreshing in comparison to "typical" romances.
  • Dante. He's usually an honorable man who has morals despite being a mafia boss, and even has a canon crush on the MC, to whom he usually treats respectfully and look out for. Which makes it all the more shocking when in Orlok’s bad ending, he defiles the MC in front of a beaten down Orlok for revenge. This caused a great number of people to see Dante in a bad light and harshly criticize the writing of Dante’s character.
  • Henri. While some players find his character arc interesting and see him as a Well-Intentioned Extremist that needs a redemption arc, there are a lot of people who genuinely do not care about his revenge on the mafia and Burlone and even claim that it was far too anti-climactic to appear at the very end of the game.
  • Liliana, the player character, while her character changes with each route, at the heart of it all she is a normal girl. Many people think she lacks agency and dislike how she relies on other characters too often. Other fans praise how she can manage to stand her ground and be brave in situations that most normal people would cower at.
• Fan-Disliked Explanation: The mystery behind Liliana’s importance in the story and her birthmark. Which is revealed that Liliana is The Chosen One for an ancient church relic and the only way to get to it, is to ..unionize with someone of full Falzone blood. Of course many fans and casual players alike aren’t very content with this.
• Mind Game Ship: Yang and Liliana is rife with this, admittedly it makes some good fodder for dark fanfiction.
