• Awesome Art: Dana Simpson's artwork has come a long way since Ozy and Millie.
• Awesome Ego: Yes, Marigold can't stop talking about how awesome and beautiful she is, but the fans love her anyway, probably because they agree with her. As Phoebe puts it, "Everybody's got flaws, and there are worse ones than being way too awesome and realizing it."
• Broken Base: The original Heavenly Nostrils title versus the current one. Some find the current one to be more indicative of what the strip is about, while others find the original to be more creative and less generic.
• Crossover Ship: Some have taken to pairing Phoebe and Marigold with Calvin and Hobbes respectively due to this comic taking a lot of influence from the latter strip.
• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Phoebe's bunkmate Sue, for being a hilarious Creepy Child.
  • Infernus, the Unicorn of Death (aka Ferny) for being cute and a rare example of a nonbinary character in comics. Neigh's also a very somber shade for a unicorn, making neigh a near-literal example.
• Friendly Fandoms:
  • Fans of the strip get along quite well with the brony fandom, especially thanks to Dana slipping in references to the show in the strip.
  • Many fans are also Calvin and Hobbes fans due to the similarities between the titular characters of each comic.
• Girl-Show Ghetto: The second attempt at an Animated Adaptation was canned because Nickelodeon execs said that shows with female protagonists don't sell well to boys. The majority of social media was not happy about this, and users were able to list dozens of successful shows with female leads, some of which were on Nickelodeon.
• Squick: Todd the Candy Dragon is a dragon who produces candy (and later ice cream) from his mouth.
• Toy Ship: Phoebe and Max. Not surprising given their similarities to Millie and Ozy, respectively.
• Ugly Cute:
  • Goblins.
  • Glorpie, a six-legged, three-eyed, dragon/rat hybrid-type creature, is very much this. Phoebe becomes attached to it for this reason.
