YMMV / Persona Rebirth

Go To

  • Archive Panic: The RP has more than 100,000 messages, so this is a given. Good luck being up-to-date with most characters' plots. Somewhat alleviated by the fact that not of a lot of it is metaplot-critical, and there's a timeline that lists the metaplot relevant threads.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In light of the news that several Kamen Rider artists would be doing demon designs for Shin Megami Tensei IV, the RP's references to Tokusatsu and Super Sentai seem almost prophetic.
    • One player devised a pair of twins named Yu and Makoto Nakagawa, whose designs were meant to look like a cross between the male protagonist of Persona 3 and the protagonist of Persona 4, Yu Narukami. Long after these two were introduced, the official anime-movie name of Persona 3's protagonist was announced as Makoto Yuki... keeping in mind that Persona 4's hero was already officially named Yu Narukami in the Persona 4 anime and in the fighting-game spin-off, Persona 4: Arena. This coincidence has lead to jokes that the player in question may be psychic.
    • Characters on the forum use masks to summon their Personae. Come Persona 5, and the protagonists are now donning their own Mask of Power to go dungeon-diving.
    • Taken to ludicrous extremes with the release of Persona 5 showing how close the site was to that game. From the masks, to the Persona Users outfits being a dead ringer for Armored Form, the overall setting taking a turn for the darker, the existence of non-instant Light and Dark spells, and the use of Frei are standout examples.
  • Narm:
    • It becomes hard to take it seriously when characters get gruesomely injured every other thread. Especially when said injuries usually get healed with pretty minimal consequences.
    • Sometimes the prevalence of over-the-top and just plain odd characters leads to a bit of strangeness fatigue.
  • Narm Charm: Armored Form. It's straight out of Kamen Rider and can be pretty out-of-place in the serious setting... But since what follows is usually a Moment of Awesome, it manages to remain cool.
  • The Woobie: Many of the characters in the RP have backstories and psychological issues that screw them up.
