• Vindicated by History: The album was received with open hostility when it first released, with critics deriding the band as posers whose idea of mixing punk and reggae was too bizarre to work. However, the massive critical and commercial success of the band's later albums and The Clash's similarly reggae-infused London Calling motivated a major reevaluation of the Police's first record; it's now considered one of the best albums of all time and especially one of the strongest debut records an artist has ever put out.
