- Fan Nickname: The game's community has a whole language's worth of slang, jargon, nicknames and euphemisms, many of them carried over from the Elite fan community. A merchant vessel kitted out for heavy combat, for example, is generally referred to as an 'iron ass'.
- Good Bad Bugs: There's one rather amusing bug where an AI vessel will fly out of a space station and, for whatever reason, plow headlong into the station's navigation beacon, effectively suiciding himself. (Most players, of course, have the exact opposite problem.)
- Moment of Awesome: You're pretty much guaranteed to cheer the first time you successfully kill a Thargoid warship.
