  • Awesome Moments: In Chapter 15, Moonchild figuratively and literally dominates Diavolo, ranting to his other self at what his paranoia has cost him. Made even better by him relenting and attempting to help his insane alter-ego.
    • Sallos, after having been pushed to his absolute limit, snaps and decapitates Lucifer for making light of what he's forced him to do. Not that Lucifer cares all that much, Sallos' following resignation finally manages to get through to Lucifer that this situation has spiraled out of his control.
    • While Il Nove and I.M.P's battle against Gallia and her soldiers is pretty awesome, showing how well each teammate plays off each other to defeat more powerful demons, but the crowning moment goes to Danger/Funny Valentine who not only effortlessly and stylishly rescues Il Nove and I.M.P, but just as casually chumps Captain Gallia who at this point has been all but unstoppable.
    • Even if it's also tragic for the events leading up to it and scary for what it implies may come later, Red Nightmare's new power allowing him to effortlessly curb-stomp even Sallos certainly fits.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • For those waiting for Valentino to get his comeuppance in canon, seeing him bowing down before (and being manhandled) by Sallos.
    • Moonchild punching a hole in Blitzo's torso.
    • Charlie turning one of Alastor's deals back on him.
  • Foe Yay Shipping: Cherri and Sir Pentious seem to have had this going on, if the revelations in Chapter 9 are any indication.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Moonchild accidentally uses his powers to witness a private moment, between Vaggie and Charlie. He also mentions the former probably still has ink on her skin from back then.
    • In chapter 8, Moonchild has a drink with Stolas after being told to take a few days off: while it's heartwarming for him to learn he's appreciated his boss far more then he initially believed, he also completely misses Stolas's rather unsubtle hints.
    • Sir Pentious' and Cherri's reaction to Angel Dust asking if they are a couple. Then the Egg Bois bluntly confirm they've entered a sexual relationship.
    • The way Angel figures out Diavolo's baffling power is both inspired and hilariously in-character.
    • Charlie dresses up as Moonchild when she notices how into his look Vaggie is. When she forgets to change when she goes to confront Angel Dust and Husk, they take notice.
    • Octavia repeatedly attempts to convince herself she just sees Moonchild as a friend... only to continuously stare at his body. She also dislikes how it makes her like her father is to Blitzo.
    • Every scene with Blitzo in Chapter 13, the imp is absolutely at his best.
    • Octavia realizing that having Moonchild try on clothes, while she is struggling with her feelings for him wasn't the best idea, when he comes out dressed in goth clothes that only makes her more attracted to him and she's rendered speechless.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Quite a few, surprisingly.
    • Octavia and Moonchild's friendship and eventual relationship. While she starts off a bit insensitive with him, it's gradually made clear over the course of the story that Octavia absolutely cherishes the Sinner.
    • Stolas admits that he loves Blitzo for more than just sex, and stating that he gave the latter his grimoire because he wanted to see him fulfill his dream after having so many others dashed.
    • Husk slowly warming up to Moonchild. By chapter 10, he even admits that he respects Charlie's Silk Hiding Steel, too.
    • Sallos might be a horrible sadistic nightmare that enjoys inflicting pain on lesser demons...but he is a completely adoring, doting uncle when it comes to Octavia. So much so that he looks for a loophole to Stolas' punishment just so he doesn't have to hurt her.
    • In Chapter 9, Angel slamming on the brakes when he realizes his aggressive come-ons hit Moonchild's Trauma Button. He quickly apologizes, reassures Moonchild that whatever happened to him was not his fault, and only picks up where he left off (and much more gently) when it's clear that Moonchild's willing to give it another go.
    • Also from Chapter 9, Cherri Bomb revealing that despite having Sir Pentious under her thumb due to having his soul chip from A Peaceful Afterlife, she's entered a consensual relationship with him.
    • In Chapter 10, Moonchild manages to drive Diavolo back into Requiem through The Power of Friendship.
    • In Chapter 11, Octavia encountering Moonchild and falling asleep with him.
    • Also in Chapter 11, Charlie is royally pissed and is openly considering firing Husk. Husk accepts this as a just punishment when Angel, acting entirely on his behalf, makes an impassioned and surprisingly cogent argument as to why Husk should be kept on. All, seemingly, for no reason other than he wanted to help his friend.
    • Niffty ships Moonchild and Octavia.
    • I.M.P comforting Loona after Sallos spooks her.
    • From Chapter 15, I.M.P. might be facing the wrath of Captain Gallia, but Blitzo won't let her boss get off with threatening Loona... nor will Moxxie and Millie abandon him to save themselves.
    • From Chapter 16, when Stella reads the Decree demanding Octavia's death, she immediately volunteers to take her place. For all that she's done, she's ready and willing to die for her daughter without a moment's hesitation or regret. She further proves this when she helps Octavia escape Sallos, knowing Lucifer could easily have her killed for it.
    • Octavia's last scene in the story shows her having fled Hell and completely cut ties with Stolas and Stella, taking up residence in Solido's old home of Sardenia. While the fact her relationship with her parents has degenerated to the point she can't stand to be in the same room as them is depressing, she's at least finally free from the toxic, self-destructive environment that so horribly corrupted the rest of her family.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Diavolo and Doppio's split is revealed to be the result of a deeply vile woman abusing their original self as a child, with his murderous paranoia revealed to be the result of the intense self-hatred of his identity this instilled. It makes it hard to not feel bad for him even as he corrupts Moonchild into becoming the murderous, psychotic Red Nightmare, as he genuinely thinks he's helping him.
    • Octavia has this opinion of her mother, believing that the latter's anger at her husband's infidelity and the ensuing stress of trying to preserve her family's reputation is contributing to her awful behavior. but as the sheer amount of damage and trauma Stella is directly responsible for sinks in, Octavia' view of her understandably becomes much less sympathetic.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Pretty much everything involving Diavolo. He's an incredibly powerful demon who can manhandle Physical Gods and Eldritch Abominations with ease and is constantly lurking just below the surface of Moonchild's psyche. Even worse? His time in the Requiem has driven him completely bonkers.
    • As of chapter 10, it's obvious he's not only insane, but completely feral. Combine with his broken ability and horrifying strength, he mutilates hundreds in a berserker rage.
    • Chapter 11 has some from an unlikely source: Charlie. Yes, really. Even Alastor was taken aback by her fury.
    • Lucifer. Full stop. He's not only the top dog of Hell itself and the embodiment of malevolence, he's also a cruel, petty, vindictive shithead who viciously torments his allies and enemies both. No one is safe from him
    • Diavolo, after being stabilized by Moonchild, is constantly described in a scary and unnerving manner. He's not only able to summon far greater strength than Moonchild, he's also able to develop their shared powers to an incredible degree in a short amount of time.
    • Chapter 27's second half. Dear Lucifer, all of the second half. Seeing the Happy Hotel crew get slaughtered by Red Nightmare is terrifying. Not even Charlie or Alastor can stop it. The only thing that saves them is the fact that Solido's lingering influence hijacks Red Nightmare's powers to reset events, then pulls Nightmare away before sealing said powers.
  • No Yay: This is Angel Dust's reaction to Cherri and Pentious being an item.
  • Tear Jerker: Moonchild's entire existence. He's a timid, gentle, mentally ill person thrust into an environment where only the strong and morally bankrupt thrive. Needless to say, he hates his afterlife and himself for being so weak. The reader and the other characters in the story can't help but want to give the poor kid a great big hug.
    • A twofold one for Stolas and Sallos, once it becomes clear that the latter intends to kill Blitzo as punishment for the events of Helluva Job. For Stolas, it means watching his beloved die and being unable to do anything to prevent it, and knowing that technically, it's his fault for letting Trouble hire I.M.P. in the first place. For Sallos, whom Octavia looks up to as a Cool Uncle, it means alienating his cousin...because the alternative would mean having to kill his niece, instead.
    • One for Loona, too, in Chapter 10 - even if Sallos was nice enough to let her live, and encouraged her to warn the rest of I.M.P. before he started gunning for them, she's now got to cope with the fact that her adoptive dad has been marked for death.
    • Chapter 14 has Lucifer edit the Decree from having Sallos kill a loved one of Stolas... to a beloved family member. This means that Sallos now has no other choice then to kill his beloved niece, and he is deeply distressed over it.
    • Chapter 16: Upon finding out that Octavia has been marked for death, Stella...turns out to be decidedly heartbroken, even begging Sallos to take her instead. She ultimately attacks Sallos to buy Octavia and Moonchild time to escape the former's wrath, desperately trying an sincere but futile attempt at apology to both of them for her heinous behaviour.
    • When Octavia willingly turns herself over to Sallos, Gallia, despite earlier saying she would kill the goth teen if commanded too, defies orders and gives Octavia a means to escape, and begs her to take it. She fears not just for the Goetia's life, but also how it will affect her uncle. She confides to her prisoner that both before and after her death, all she's ever known or cared about was power and status, until she met the Grand Duke, who not only gave her power, but showed her love and compassion she'd never seen in her long life, and now he is going to change for the worse if he carries out his niece's execution.
    • In Chapter 27, when Captain Gallia finds Sallos' dead body she goes on autopilot and uses the situation to make Octavia exempt from the Decree. Once that's done, she breaks down in tears and embraces the corpse.
    • As of Chapter 28, everyone at the Happy Hotel is severely demoralized, Octavia's heartbroken after losing Moonchild to Red Nightmare, and the plans of the villains are rolling along uninterrupted. If there's a silver lining, it's missing in action.
  • The Woobie: Moonchild needed to routinely avoid vicious gangsters on his way to work, had his gentle personality repeatedly taken advantage of, and worst of all, was stuck in a one-sided,abusive relationship with one of his bosses before meeting Charlie. It's little wonder he ends up becoming a Destroyer of Worlds as Red Nightmare.
    • Octavia, over the course of a few days, learns her mother has been monstrously abusing her best friend, is ordered by Lucifer to die for something she had nothing to do with, and her attempt to pull a Heroic Sacrifice to protect Moonchild and Sallos (the last two loved ones she still trusts) kicks off a series of events that lead to Moonchild completely losing his mind and subjecting Sallos to a Cruel and Unusual Death.
