• Fridge Brilliance: Since the show is filmed in Wales (Victoria Coren Mitchell has mentioned this on air sometimes), the final round removes vowels from words as a stereotype of vowelless Welsh words. ^note  In fact, this is a common misconception due to the complexities of the Welsh alphabet. The alphabet consists of 29 letters, including several made up of two letters (Namely Ch, Dd, Ff, Ng, Ll, Ph, Rh, and Th). Each letter has a fairly strict pronunciation, for example F is pronounced as a soft F or V sound, with V being absent from the alphabet, while an Ff will always be pronounced as a hard F. In fact, the Welsh alphabet actually includes more vowels than the English one, with W and Y counted in addition to A,E,I,O, and U.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In the Sequences round of Series 13, Episode 8 there's a question about winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, with the Netherlands being one of the clues. After the question, Victoria quips that none of the countries mentioned will ever win the contest again and that "it's just going to be Ukraine and Lithuania forever now". Two years later, the Netherlands got another win in the contest with "Arcade".
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • A very young, pre-YouTube Tom Scott competed in Series 3 as leader of the Hitchhikers.
  • Before either of them became Chasers on The Chase, Mark Labbett won Series 2 as part of the Rugby Boys, and Jenny Ryan won Series 3 as part of the Gamblers.
  • One of the members of the Choristers in Series 15 was author Ivan Brett, who would gain more public attention in the UK as one of the contestants on The Traitors.
