YMMV / 1-2-Switch

  • Accidental Innuendo:
  • Bile Fascination: This is the primary reason anyone is playing the sequel at all, just to see if it really lives up to its horrendous internal reception.
  • Critic-Proof: Despite the less-than-complimentary response from most reviewers, the game sold pretty well, being the second-highest selling title in the system's launch window after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and went on to sell over 3 million units worldwide overall.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Virtually every preview of the cow-milking mini game will include a nod to how suggestive and awkward it is.

  • Older Than They Think: Outside of the The Jackbox Party Pack games that Everybody 1-2-Switch tries to take after, using a smartphone as an interactive controller for a console title is nothing new. In fact, it's been done with Just Dance through a mobile app since 2017.
  • Presumed Flop: The original game is widely assumed to have been a commercial failure due to receiving mixed reviews, complaints over the game's $60 price tag, and being overshadowed by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In reality, the game was a modest success, selling a million copies during its first year and ultimately selling 3.61 million overall, enough to warrant a sequel.
  • Spiritual Successor: Due to the game not only being a minigame collection, but also being very weird in terms of overall content, it's often compared to the WarioWare series.
  • Tainted by the Preview: When it was confirmed that 1-2-Switch would only have 28 minigames in total, fans wondered whether or not that number of games is suitable for that price, with many believing that should have been a pack-in title. The sequel got this even worse, due to only having 17 minigames and the pre-existing moniker as the "Stinky Horse" or "Horseshit" game, though it had the benefit of being a budget release.
