• Ensemble Dark Horse: Ty is really popular for being a non-binary character on top of all the other LGBT characters in the comic, and for having a really nice fashion sense.
• Fan Nickname: On the webcomic's page comments, Alastair is sometimes called "Allustair", a backwards allusion to Sulla's name.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Al's vague resemblance to Soldier:76 gets kinda funny when he's revealed to be gay.
• It Was His Sled: Al and Brendan are a gay couple. It's hard to tell if this was ever supposed to be a spoiler, particularly if you found this webcomic word-of-mouth after chapter 2.
• Jerkass Woobie: Brendan can be harsh on Al both in the flashbacks and in the present, but he's trying hard to create a future with machines integrated into people's lives, and he had to deal with Al's death for 16 years.
• Robo Ship: AL AND BRENDAN WOULD YOU JUST GET BACK TOGETHER ALREADY
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: For being considered the main character, robot!Al is hard to relate to in several instances. It's understandable why he'd be upset about being brought to life, but at the same time he doesn't suffer as much as Brendan and Sulla to explain away his actions and a lot of his anger comes from Poor Communication Kills situations. It only takes until chapter seven where he subverts this trope.
