• Angst? What Angst?: Splinter doesn't seem to initially mind being kidnapped and tied up in a crucifix position. The first time we see him in Shredder's den he's rapping with the person guarding him.
• Crosses the Line Twice:
  • Splinter trying to have sex with the unconscious April, then declaring that he's only "trying to fuck"!
  • Shredder telling Tokka and Rahzar to tear up the streets and "make it look like Ferguson".
• Designated Hero: The Turtles are racist, ungrateful assholes who are arguably worse than Shredder.
• Designated Villain: Shredder for the first couple of videos when all he wants is to get revenge on Raph for sleeping with April. Later, however, he eventually does cross the Moral Event Horizon.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Splinter is one of, if not the most popular character for being a hilarious, drunk old rat. Just take a look at how many comments on YouTube are quotes from him.
  • Shredder is also popular with viewers, due to his long list of Laughably Evil moments and the fact that he seems to be one of the few main cast members to actually receive Adaptational Heroism rather than it's opposite. The first time he interacts with Splinter (Splinter singing French Montana's "Ain't Worried 'Bout Nothin'" and Shredder's rant after shutting him up) is often declared one of the funniest moments in the series.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • When one of the Foot ninjas gives April a message "for the N-word turtles", he speaks unintelligibly at first with his mask on before taking it off to repeat himself. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows would use the same joke later when Casey Jones was speaking to April with his hockey mask on.
  • The series’ portrayal of Splinter as a drunk and lazy Dirty Old Man feels remarkably prophetic after an actual instalment in the franchise gave the character a similar reinvention.
• Moral Event Horizon: As retaliation for Raph sleeping with April, Shredder tries to kill and eat the Turtles.
• Squick: Poor Splinter's ordeal in prison.
  Splinter: I ate my own shit to survive! Where was y'all, what the fuck?!?
