YMMV / Never Hike Alone

  • Awesome Music: Another Soul by Trevor Vaughan. A simplistic yet somewhat unnerving rock tune.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Ghost Jason, this film’s interpretation of Mr. Voorhees, has gotten a lot of love from the Friday fanbase, with many ranking this interpretation on par with Ted White and Kane Hodder despite originating from a fan film. Vincente DiSanti’s incredibly lively and terrifying performance helps.
  • He Really Can Act: Fans have praised Drew Leighty’s acting as Kyle in the film, citing how he managed to keep the film engaging to watch with the movie being a one man show, at least until the end when he’s in the ambulance. Similarly, director Vincente DiSanti as Jason turns in a performance at least as good as the best Jasons in the official films. The main draw of the film is watching the cat-and-mouse game between ordinary hiking enthusiast and unstoppable undead murder machine play out, and this wouldn't have been nearly as compelling if both actors weren't able to captivate the audience with their performances (Jason, as always, hindered by having nothing at all in the way of dialogue or facial expressions).
  • Moment of Awesome: The subverted Mutual Kill between Kyle and Jason. Not only is this a highly athletic but otherwise ordinary guy going up against an unstoppable undead murder machine, but the way its shot and framed, where you slowly realize they've both inflicted "mortal" wounds on each other, relinquish their hold on their respective weapons at the same time, fall back at the same time, hit the ground at the same time. Then you realize Kyle survived because his guidebook took the brunt of Jason's machete stab, and Jason survived because, well, he's Jason.
  • Sacred Cow: Within the Friday the 13th fanbase, this Fan Film is often seen as not only the definitive Friday fan film, but a film on par with some of the best entries of the whole series.
  • Unexpected Character: Probably no one expected Tommy Jarvis to come back, or to be played by one of his original actors!
