  • Adorkable: Daniel himself, without question. That is, when he isn't being a Deadpan Snarker.
  • Archive Panic: Dan has been producing videos since late 2011, and has been uploading many videos since then. That's not just concerning his main channel either, as he also has his vlog channel and his dad's channel too.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Warning, if you're easily offended or a bigot of any kind, do not watch the HuniePop video. Of course, it's lampshaded very early on.
    Kyu: Common misconception.
Dan: I wish you were a misconception. (Beat) Too dark? Too dark? I think, euwaghe, we'll test the waters, I think that was fine.
  • Don't Shoot the Message: After the Yogscast's Kickstarter for their game Yogventures went bust and the group announced their plans to launch "Yogdiscovery" (a series in which they would be paid to promote small games in videos), Dan made a video in which he criticised the plan at length. Many that otherwise agreed with his points (which included disclosure and thought the plan had flaws in terms of how much the Yogscast would be paid) were put off by his demeanour, which they found to be quite whiny and frustrated.
  • Fandom Rivalry:
    • He seems to have one with the main channel of the Yogscast, due to Lewis Brindley falsely accusing him of sponsored content not being disclosed in response to some reasonable criticism of Yogdiscovery; not helping matters was Dan's friend Matt tweeting a photo of Lewis being graphically stabbed (specifically, a character from Assassin's Creed with Lewis' face added). For a good while, mentioning the network in general (bar Martyn or another channel such as Sips or Hat Films, who are largely liked, or a channel such as Kim Richards towards whom Dan's fans have no major beef) on Dan's subreddit would get you shredded, and vice versa for /r/Yogscast unless it was a Little and Cubed video.
      • However, they have since made up, and Matt has begun doing a fair amount of content with Hannah Rutherford.
    • As a result of the Fine Bros and the "React Word" announcement, Dan and his fans have been extremely negative towards React, which has caused a few fans of the Fine Bros to fire back.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • With InTheLittleWood, due to their ongoing "Little and Cubed" series. This is particularly notable due to him not getting on with the Yogscast (or at least its main channel).
    • Despite relatively little interaction, his fans seem to like Hat Films and Sips as well.
    • More recently, Dan's fandom has been getting on better with Hannah Rutherford's fandom, as Matt has begun doing a fair bit of content with her, and with Dan and Hannah having the occasional conversation on Twitter.
    • With The Cynical Brit, due to them both being pro-disclosure and getting along well. It helps that Dan has stood up for TB many times, particularly after his diagnosis with terminal cancer.
    • With Stuart Ashen, partly due to them being good friends in real life, and partly due to Dan name-dropping Ashens once or twice. They have also done several collabs recently.
    • With Many A True Nerd, due to them running a podcast together.
  • Good Bad Bugs: Explored at times.
    • The Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag video runs into a few glitches.
Dan: If you see someone ping themselves off into the stratosphere, that's a known bug and I never want them to fix it.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • While they try to defy it, pretty much all of the jokes made about Jay’s cancer (including him beating it twice) hit very different ever since he relapsed again and died in June 2018.
    • His video on the fanmade Star Trek VR diorama Stage 9 and all of Dan's associated gushing over it became this when CBS issued a cease-and-desist to the creator. The developer did end up having a happy ending when they were tasked with creating the officially-licensed The Orville Interactive Fan Experience.
  • He Panned It, Now He Sucks!:
    • A number of viewers weren't happy with his video on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. They felt that he was wrong about the game being a button-masher, and that he tried to treat the game as the next installment in the Solid series, rather than as a spinoff.
    • His attitude towards the Xbox 360 and Xbox One has irked people in the past.
    • When he panned 'Goat Simulator' for disliking its style of humor he received a lot of backlash, and it is probably one of his most downvoted videos.
    • Similarly, when he panned Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. To elaborate, he was playing what was fundamentally a multiplayer game solo, which made his experience much harder than it should be. This, combined with the existence of microtransactions, made Dan conclude it was a play to win.
    • His repeated insults and snark towards X Plane 10 brought forth the ire of the serious flight simulator community, especially once people in the comments began pointing out that he hadn't bothered to turn on settings to make the experience more realistic, and was attempting to play it like an arcade flight game, rather than the simulator title it was designed as and intended to be.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: On Dan's "People to watch! (and not in a hiding-in-the-bushes way...)" video on his second channel, he gives a shout out to CharlieIsSoCoolLike and he mentions Charlies outro by Steven Friday and Dan considers himself low-class because he doesn't even have an outro. Come sometime later, and who does his outro?
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Dan posts a link to a "mystery video" at the end of most of his videos. Fans will often comment on said mystery videos: "I was sent here by a man who *something that Dan did in the video*." Examples include: "I was sent here by a man who made a nuclear reactor in his bedroom while trying to find his glasses." from a "3 free game Friday" video in which Dan played I Can't Find My Glasses.
    • "BRAAAAAAAAAD!!!!"
    • It's always nice to see Dan back on the channel again. *
  • Older Than They Think: Dan remarks in his video on Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame that there don't seem to be that many games that are musicals. From around the time of release (And the same platform as Karmaflow, no less), there was Boo Bunny Plague, and if you're looking further back, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
