YMMV / Need for Speed: Most Wanted – Pepega Edition

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The mod changes the game's entire EA Trax playlist, and the Anniversary Update adds in some extra songs. You got the most obvious ones like Java remixes of popular songs made by Falefee, such as "Nine Thou", "Blood Sugar" and "The Weekend", with some remixes having a little bit of Kuru sound effects sprinkled here and there. This time around we even got original songs as well.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • The fact Richard Hammond is depicted driving the Rimac that almost led to his death might sound a bit insensitive (if not downright cruel), but the fact that apparently is exactly the same one he crash landed (as in, it's still dirty from the smoke) and is a Blacklist car, meaning he took the risk of killing himself again in-universe just to beat Kuru, is honestly quite hilarious.
    • A similar example also goes to his colleague Jeremy driving the Reliant Robin, another vehicle that's became infamous for being quite dangerous.
  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: Pre-release material showed that the mod had the option to change the license plates, which ultimately wasn't present in the original release, much to fans' dismay. It was reintroduced in one of the updates, with brand new license plates made by the team.
  • Fountain of Memes: Being a game entirely based on KuruHS' career, a lot of references to his streams and videos can be found:
    • The unnamed Cross partner gets a phone call being told to "check out Instant Gaming for cheap game keys"Context
    • WOAH BLACK BETTY, BAM-BA-LAM!Context
      • Other similar examples of loud music used in Kuru streams are Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars (where the Screamer Prank starts after the beat drops), the stereotypical French song "Happy Day in Paris" and finally a good ol' RickRoll, albeit the last two being loud from the start instead of giving Tempting Fate to Kuru poor ears.
    • "FAK!"Context
    • The police alert beeping was replaced with the infamous first note of the Need for Speed: Underground 2 Java game song, also referencing a common edit in Kuru videos where the note is utilized for various situations, with common one bumping into other vehicles.
  • Good Bad Bugs: In a pre-release build of the mod, TakaiDesu's car had a bug where her Blacklist vehicle didn't move at all, despite the wheels being shown moving. Considering all the meme stuff present in the mod, many fans didn't mind at all to it, if not finding it hilarious. This was ultimately fixed by the time the full version came out.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: This game includes Riolu as one of the members of the Blacklist. Riolu being referred to as a "real speedrunner" in Eden's phone call upon meeting the requirements to challenge Riolu is made awkward by the TrackMania cheating scandal that eventually resulted in him leaving the internet.
  • Memetic Loser:
    • BlackPanthaa, one of Kuru's friends, is the number 15 driver on the Blacklist, with his strength being "absolutely nothing", on top of specifying that he dumped all his money on modifying his vehicle... a Vauxhall Corsa VXR. His character bio cutscene is also not as menacing as it sounds, as he gets busted during the ending. He's even used for the April Fool's trailer of the Pepega mod of Need for Speed (2015).
    • Riolu, funnily enough, especially following the TrackMania cheating scandal, as people think that him cheating his records gave him a chance to be part of the Blacklist.
  • That One Level: V2 of the mod introduced new layouts to some of the races, including a whole new drag race going through the prison in Camden Beach, encountered during Ryan Cooper's race setlist. You cannot go around the prison, you have to go through it, jumps and all, which can ruin your speed, and avoid traffic that can occasionally get in your way. Let's just say that Team Pepega didn't call drag races in the mod "CBT" for nothing.
  • That One Sidequest:
    • Challenge #27 of the Cancer Series, titled "The Green-Purple Dragon", puts the player in the role of Rachel from Underground 2, doing a recreation of a URL race with 8 laps to beat. Most likely this mission was added as a joke, due to how time inducing URLs tends to be according to the NFS community.note
    • Two of the Cancer Series challenges; the "Stock Punto Challenge" and "Mayhem Challenge" are considered Brutal Bonus Level. The former requires you to drive a stock Punto without nitrous and beat the time in a longer track while the latter puts you in KuruHS's orange Golf used in his speedruns and must reach one hundred million bounty while dealing the hyper-aggressiveness of Pepega police supercars like Ferrari LaFerrari and Lamborghini Gallardo that can easily put you in a extreme hell.
