• Cargo Ship: At the beginning, Dr. Forrester is seen practicing CPR on a female dummy. At the end of the episode, he's on a date with it.
  Dr. Forrester: So, have I told you I've got a man up in space? No, literally. I have a man up in space.
• Moral Event Horizon: Despite having watched Thor kill a dog and half a dozen people, Servo gets upset at seeing him hit a nurse over the head with his gun.
  Tom Servo: Hey, hey, that's where I draw the line! Pistol-Whipping...
• Nightmare Fuel: Servo's impressions of people locked in car trunks are a little too realistic.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Sandwich: Jettisoning all those snacks just for a joke? Then come The Painted Hills we find out, on the Satellite, snacks are more valuable than gold.
• Unintentional Period Piece: The "candy in space" segment is Joel and the bots parodying this "space candy" policy trailer, as seen in theaters owned by the General Cinema Corporation chain during the mid-to-late '80s and early '90s. The joke is now lost unless you remember GCC being in your area; they went bankrupt in 2000 and were promptly snatched up by AMC Theaters.
