YMMV / My Bloody Valentine 3D

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Harry Warden, the original Miner, is a lot more violent and brutal than his counterpart in the original film. Already a thoroughly unpleasant man from the beginning, Warden murdered his fellow miners to conserve his own oxygen after an explosion in the mine, butchers the patients in a hospital, and slaughters a number of partygoers at the mine all while making his way towards Tom, who he blames for the explosion. His attempted murder of Tom traumatizes the latter, inspiring him to go on another Valentine's Day killing spree years later while hallucinating that it's Warden committing the murders.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The killer murders a little person by impaling her to the ceiling with what was essentially a golf swing.
  • Funny Moments: The blooper reel is downright hilarious!
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: They switched the names of the characters for the remake in terms of Axel the good guy and TJ, now called Tom, the bad guy.
  • Narm:
    • Ben's death actually was pretty frightening, up until the blurted out "Shit!"
    • The killer getting whacked with a piece of frozen meat, even though it was probably supposed to be comedic.
  • Special Effects Failure: As noted in this video, most of the CGI and 3D effects in the movie haven't aged well. Notable examples include Jason losing his eyeball (which looks fake), the obvious digital effect they used for Brandy's death, and the scene where Harry Warden throws a computer-generated pick-axe at the main characters.
  • Squick: The cut out hearts, and mutilated bodies.
